Hot tub and spa wiring in Asheville, NC

A new hot tub needs its own 240-volt circuit, a GFCI-protected disconnect within sight of the tub, and bonding done to code before the inspector signs off. We wire the circuit from your panel to the tub, pull the permit and get it inspected, so the tub is ready the day it is filled.

What the hookup includes

A load check on your panel, a dedicated 240-volt circuit sized to the tub's nameplate (most need 50 amps; some swim spas need more), the breaker, wire run to the pad, a GFCI disconnect at the required distance from the water, the final connection, and testing with the tub running.

Plug-and-play tubs

Small 120-volt plug-in tubs still need their own GFCI-protected outlet, not a shared garage or porch circuit. We install that outlet if the tub does not need a 240-volt hookup.

Before the tub arrives

Send us the tub's model or spec sheet and where the pad will be. Distance from the panel and whether the run goes underground are the biggest price factors, and we can wire the circuit before delivery so the dealer can fill it the same day.

When the panel is full

We check panel capacity before starting. If there is no room for a 50-amp circuit, we tell you before any work starts and price the options, from freeing up space in the panel to a panel upgrade.

Questions we get

How much does it cost to wire a hot tub in Asheville?

The range for a 240-volt spa circuit is listed on this page. A short run from a panel with free space is at the low end; long underground runs and panel work cost more. The on-site assessment confirms the price before work starts.

Do I need a permit to wire a hot tub in Buncombe County?

A new 240-volt hot tub circuit needs an electrical permit and inspection. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job.

Can I plug a hot tub into a regular outlet?

Only small tubs built as 120-volt plug-in models, and then on their own GFCI-protected outlet. Most full-size tubs and every swim spa need a hardwired 240-volt circuit.
